Northern Indiana Hand & Wrist Center, conveniently located at the University Commons Medical Campus, is a sub-specialty practice devoted to delivering operative and non-operative care for medical conditions of the hand, wrist and elbow. Dr. John H. Mahon, the founding physician, is a Diplomate of the National Board of Medical Examiners and the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery. He has earned the Subspecialty Certificate in Orthopaedic Surgery of the Hand which distinguishes orthopaedic surgeons who have demonstrated qualifications in hand surgery beyond those expected of other orthopaedic surgeons by virtue of additional training, and has been elected to membership in the American Society for Surgery of the Hand.
We are qualified to diagnose and treat both common and unusual conditions of the hand, wrist, and elbow. Most conditions do not need surgical treatment. Often, a steroid injection, a directed course of supervised therapy, or a brief period of rest will provide excellent symptom relief. More serious problems may require casting, fracture care, collagenase injections (Xiaflex), or surgery. Regardless, our training, experience, and continuing education are designed to maximize your potential for recovery.
Our facility is conveniently located at the University Commons Medical Campus near State Road 23 and University Park Mall. Our office has ample parking space and convenient street-level access. We provide a friendly atmosphere with a highly trained and experienced staff. Working hand-in-hand with other specialists in the medical community, our goal is to correctly and efficiently diagnose your problem, plan and execute the appropriate treatment plan and return you to the highest level of pain-free function possible.
Dr. Mahon is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the American Society for Surgery of the Hand. He is certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, fellowship trained in Hand and Microvascular Surgery, and holds the Certificate of Added Qualifications in Hand Surgery (CAQSH). He has been published in hand surgery literature and has presented at local, state, national, and international conferences.
